My personal favorite acting book. His section on the 12 guideposts to creating character for an audition are essential acting advice for the beginner and a wonderful reminder to the veteran actor. I highly recommend it. It feels slightly dated - I mean it was written in - and I don't think the future is necessarily the same. However, the approach of the actor is, and the guideposts to auditioning are clear, and easy to follow, they provide the actor with great tools to take into a casting environment and focus on performing what they have rehearsed.
